The Color Run

Yesterday I did a 5k called The Color Run in Fair Park.  It's a race that benefits the American Heart Association but isn't your typical 5k.  Every kilometer, there is a color zone where they throw a different colored powder at you.  By the time you finish, you are covered in various colors.  After the race, everyone gathered near the steps of the Cotton Bowl entrance to do a countdown for one big color throw.  Everyone was given their own color packets to throw in the air every 15 minutes.  My friend, Erin, joined me and we had a really great time!  Something I will definitely do again next year!

My Valentine

I have been lucky to have spent the last 8 years with the same Valentine.  We have never been big on celebrating since many Valentine's nights were spent in the frigid temperatures at his high school soccer games.  We typically tried to do dinner somewhere around the date but never anything extraordinary.  This year Shane did all the planning and told me not to get him anything.  I found this particularly challenging since I love to come up with things to do for him or fun gift ideas.  But I stuck to my guns and only got him a card.  :)

On Monday, a dozen red roses showed up at my office which was really unexpected.  He has sent me flowers on many occasions but I didn't expect any for Valentine's Day since I figured our big thing was a nice dinner out.

I came home alittle early on Tuesday so we could leave the house on time (still not knowing what the plan was).  Since Shane hates driving, I had to get us to the unknown destination with various directions being given by him.  Once we hit Addison, I sort of knew where we might end up but wasn't completely sure.  My instincts were right though and we ended up at The Melting Pot!  It is sort of a cliche date place that we have grown to like over the years.  I think we go maybe once a year, if that.  When we were seated, there was a balloon and a box of chocolate covered strawberries waiting for me.

I must admit, he did a pretty excellent job this year and I couldn't be happier to have spent it with him!

On another note, I must say how proud I am of Shane over the last few months.  He started a diet at the beginning of November and already lost 25 pounds.  He looks great!
