March in Photos

I have done a fairly good job of taking photos and videos lately (yay!) so I thought I would update the blog so everyone could see what the Bybee clan has been up to the last couple of weeks.

 Happy St Patrick's Day!

I made these little jars for the boy's teachers.

They say "Happy St Patrick's Day from your little leprechauns!"

It may seem overboard to do something for the teachers

every holiday, but we love them so much and our boys do, too.

These are just small ways we can show them our

appreciation for all that they do.

 This is a phone from Grayson's school that

we regularly find in his pockets.  We typically

have to pat him down when we pick him up now.

that my mom was able to bring back from the lake

so he doesn't take the one from school anymore. 

 This kid is a mover!  He's not crawling yet but

we have seen signs of mobility.

 It was nice this weekend so we got the boys

outside.  Beckett got to enjoy the swing for the first time.

 And of course Grayson got to enjoy the swing, too.

 I got this baby carrier for $8 at a consignment sale.

I needed something to wear so it was easier when I had

the boys by myself.  We tested it out this weekend.

Beckett was super happy when he was in it.

 I took the boys for a walk yesterday and Gray

wanted to stop to pick mommy "flowers".

Unfortunately our neighbors easement is a weed

factory.  It was a very slow walk...

 Gray is loving time with his brother more and more.

 Beckett was on the floor and Gray goes, 

"I sit on the floor with Beckett!"

Aspen also loves him some Beckett.

Grayson is still going to gymnastics each Saturday and always seems to enjoy himself.  We keep tossing around if we want to continue it since it's a further drive, but he really loves it when we are there so I think we will keep it up until this summer then possibly go back to soccer.  Here are some videos so you can see what they do in class each week.  The teacher does guide/instruct the kids but it's also a time for them to just play in various areas around the gym.  

When he first started, he wasn't great at the trampoline,

but he's gotten alot better.

but he loves dropping into the pit.

This kid has some great coordination.  He's been

doing the bars like this since maybe the second or third

class.

We are really enjoying this nice weather and looking forward to hopefully a nice Easter weekend.  Gray will not miss out on any opportunities to hunt for eggs.  The Colony Parks Department is having their Easter Eggstravaganza on Thursday so I'm going to take the boys and show my friends some support.  Then Gray has an egg hunt at school Friday morning and that afternoon we are headed down to the lake for the first time in a long time where Gray will have his own personal hunt on Saturday.  My mom said the bluebonnets are out so I'm hoping to get some good pictures of the boys.  Everyone have a great Easter!   

5 Months

Mr. Beckett is 5 months old today!  Here are some thing we have noticed about him this month:

• He loves to play with his toys.  Grayson always loved his toys, but never seemed to play with them like Beckett does.  Beckett is always trying to grab at stuff, pull on it, hit it or interact with it in any way.  He especially loves his exersaucer.
• Like every other month before, he continues to be one of the happiest babies.  It's rare to hear him cry, unless he's extremely hungry or needs to take a nap (which he tries to avoid).  
• Beckett loves to play with his feet.  We always see him try to shove his foot in his mouth or pull on his socks.  
• He loves bath time.  While I bathe him he loves to kick, smile and talk to me.  It's not unusual for me to get wet during the bath process (he gets this from his brother).
• Beckett loves his brother.  Whenever Grayson is near him, his face lights up.  He does the same thing with Aspen so maybe this isn't something we should see as too significant.  :)
• He is doing great at daycare.  In true Bybee fashion, he is one of the favorites in suite 100.  Teachers from other rooms come in just to see Beckett.  They did the same thing with Grayson.  
• Beckett has started to figure out his paci.  He can pull it out of his mouth, play with it, and put it back in.  If he drops it he still needs help though.
• He is still in size 2 diapers.
• He wears mostly 6 month clothes and still a few pair of 3 month pants.  Beckett is definitely smaller than Gray was at this age!
• He is eating 5-6oz six times a day.  We were hoping he would drop to 5 times a day soon, but he doesn't seem ready. 
• At night he sleeps about 8 1/2 to 9 hours.  He wakes up around 5:30am-6am each morning.  We wish he would extend this time on the weekends though.  :)
• Weight: 15lbs, 4oz
• Height: 26 inches

Whoop!

In other news, Grayson had his second surgery last Thursday.  He got another set of tubes and had his adenoids removed.  This surgery took alittle longer and was alittle more invasive than last time since they removed his adenoids.  It required him to be tubed and also get an IV.  I was concerned the recovery may not be as quick as last time and he would need more downtime, but Grayson continues to prove us wrong.  

We did not spend alot of time talking to Grayson about the surgery leading up to it.  It wasn't something we felt like he would understand.  The night before I did tell him we would be getting up early to go to the doctor, he would go night night when we got there and when he woke up his ears and throat might hurt alittle but they would be all better.  He would point to his ears and say "Doctor going to make my ears better."

Morning of Surgery

Gray and I went to the hospital at 6am while Shane got Beckett up, fed him and dropped him off at daycare at 6:30am when they opened.  Gray and I headed to the back area where they prepped him for surgery.  He was watching Mickey on my iPad during this process so he wasn't too phased by anything.  Shane showed up just before Grayson was given some "silly juice" to relax him.  After he had it, we noticed he started to drift and almost hit his head on the bed rail while sitting up.  Many told us to video his reaction to the medication, but he wasn't too entertaining.  They eventually took him away so Shane and I were then escorted to a small room to wait for him while Dr. Bates completed the procedure.  About 25 minutes later he came in our room and let us know Grayson did excellent and we could see him once he woke up.  A few minutes later a nurse knocked on our door and just outside was Grayson passed out on his tummy in a hospital bed.  They wheeled him to a recovery area where we could get him out of bed and hold him.  Once he started waking up, he was just fine.  Not once did this kid cry.  He still had the IV in his foot and I was afraid he might get upset when she went to remove it.  We tried to distract him with Mickey again.  The only thing that made him upset was that the nurse took his sock off to remove the IV.  He could care less about this plastic tube being pulled out of his leg.  A few minutes later we were ready to head home.  Since we were in two cars, Shane took Gray home while I went to Target to get his prescription filled.  Shane took Gray to our bed so he could rest and watch a movie.  When I got home I expected to see him all snuggled up in our bed resting.  Not the case.  I open the back door and hear someone squealing with joy and walk in our room to find Grayson sitting on Shane's lap, happily giggling and bouncing while watching Wreck It Ralph.  I think he recovered from everything quite well.  The rest of the day was filled with movies and attempts to keep Gray from over doing it.  

It has been a few days since the surgery and he continues to do great!  He does have a slight fever which is expected after this type of surgery and he also has some bad breath from the adenoid removal (they basically laser off the adenoid so the smell is a reaction to the wound healing).  We are hoping this will be the last of his surgeries to correct this problem and his ears heal properly.

As I mentioned in a previous post, I finally painted the boy's chairs.  We had purchased two small adirondack chairs from Pottery Barn last year in gray and navy.  The gray one is obviously Grayson's and the navy one is Beckett's.  I loved the color of them so I decided to paint these two chairs to match.  I took the adirondack chairs apart and had Home Depot match the paint color.  One of the chairs I needed to paint was already stained so I had to prime it then paint over it with the navy paint.  It took me an entire day to finish both chairs.  I still need to put a sealant on Beckett's chair but since he isn't actually sitting in it yet, I have some time.  I think they both turned out great and Grayson's new chair wipes down much easier than when it was stained and you can actually see the dirt so we can clean it better.
