Baby Grayson has finally started solid foods! I feel like we started him later than most, but a lot of the literature I read suggested waiting until babies were 6 months old. He was doing so well with just breastmilk and the addition of formula that I didn't feel a need to rush it. He was gaining weight and sleeping 11 hours at night so I figured we were doing pretty good with his liquid diet.
Last night we gave him his first taste of rice cereal. Maybe not the most tasty introduction to solid foods, but one that all babies must do. We were so happy with how well he did! He opened his mouth and let me put the spoon in. His first reaction was to scrunch up his face but then he seemed to get the hang of it and probably ate about half of what I had prepared for him. Our plan is to do rice cereal for maybe another week so he gets used to eating then start introducing some veggies then fruit a few days at a time. I doubt he will have any allergies since Shane and I don't have any but you never know.

We are starting to enjoy the spring/summer weather, and a few winter days here and there. The Texas weather this year has been really screwy. One day it will be sunny and in the 80's then drop to the 40's for a few nights and only get into the 60's during the day. Last weekend it was really nice so we decided to do a few outdoor projects. We purchased a retractable screen for our back door so we could open the door but still keep animals and Grayson contained (once he is mobile) while enjoying a nice breeze. We also purchased a new fire pit. We loved the fire pit table we had but it was getting old and was a wood burning pit so it put off a lot of smoke and ash. This time we invested in a propane fire pit and added some pretty fire glass. It looks really nice and doesn't put off too much heat so we can enjoy it even during the summer nights. I also bought some new flowers and plants to redo the pots we had on the back patio and our front walkway. Hopefully this will be a semi-cool summer so we can spend some time outside!
