10 Months

Sweet baby Beckett is merely two months away from being 1 year old!  Where has the time gone already?!  Here are some things we noticed about Beckett this month:

  • Beckett is probably not far from walking.  He regularly stands whenever he gets the chance and started walking with his activity walker this month, too.  Just about every night he goes over to play with it, stands up and takes off.  He even seems to be learning how to steer and control it.
  • He loves climbing the stairs which has kept Shane and I on high alert.  If it ever gets quiet, and he's not in the living room, we usually find him about 4-5 stairs up.  He turns to look at us, laughs with pride, and goes right back to climbing.  That little toot is quick, too!
  • Beckett finally said "Momma!"  The few times he has said it he wasn't exactly happy, but whining.  The morning we left for the beach he was crawling towards me unhappily since no one was holding him and uttered that wonderful word to me.  Since then he has only said it a couple of other times, all while being extremely upset that he wasn't in my arms.
  • He loves to play peek-a-boo.  Anytime he can hide behind a wall, or a blanket, he will start a game of peek-a-boo and laugh happily.  I think he is proud of himself for being so clever.
  • He is starting to be a better eater.  We are branching out to more solid foods since he enjoys feeding himself.  So far he's eaten bananas, sweet potatoes, peaches, avocado, eggs, pasta and cheese.  I think he has learned "no" because if we try to offer him something he doesn't want, he will shake his head from side to side until we give him something he wants to eat.  It's pretty funny to watch him when he does it.
  • We have noticed he likes to play with toys.  From time to time we will find him sitting in the living room going through the toys bins and entertaining himself.  He's starting to be alittle more independent during playtime but he also likes to play with Gray sometimes.
  • He still has just two teeth but I feel like the top teeth aren't far from making an appearance.
  • He wears size 3 diapers.
  • He is wearing mostly 9 month clothes but also alot of 12 month clothes.  His waist is still so tiny that he can even wear some 6 month pants still.
I'm constantly mesmerized that we are not too far away from having a 1 year old and 3 year old in our home.  I not only see Beckett growing up so fast and changing, but Grayson is, too.  It's as if he became a little boy overnight.  He seems to be talking more and putting sentences together really well.  We love watching how he interacts with Beckett.  Those two have a love for each other already that I hope never goes away.

With their birthdays being merely 2 months away, I am trying to start planning for their parties.  October is going to be a busy month for me at work and their parties will only be a week apart.  I'm looking forward to the day that we can have just one big halloween party for the two of them but I think that will be a couple of years down the road.  This year we plan on having a brunch for Beckett's birthday with just family and some friends, then having Grayson's party the next weekend with just a few of his friends over to our house.  I think he's at that age that he can enjoy time with his friends more.

This week is going to be a rough one.  I'm headed to Vermont in the morning for training and won't see the boys until Saturday morning.  I know we will facetime while I am gone, but it won't be the same since I will go 5 days without holding my babies.  This will be the longest time I have ever been away from either one of them.  Although, I am looking forward to four nights of uninterrupted sleep for the first time in almost 3 years.  :)  Shane will do great with the boys.  He had them alone for a couple of days last week and I was actually sick all day yesterday and could not get out of bed so he had to take care of them.  He's such an amazing dad and I know the boys know how much he loves them.

I forgot to post photos from the boy's swim lessons last month.  This was the first class Gray took without one of us being involved.  He did great!  Beckett seemed to like his class, too.

We were surprised to see them in class together the first night.

No fear for this kid!

One Friday I skipped out of work and we took Gray to the aquarium.  My mom and Shane took him last summer but he was more amazed by the stairs than the fish.  This time we tried to take our time and show him all of the fish and animals.  He seemed to enjoy himself.  He mostly wanted to see penguins and then was oddly disappointed.  I think his exact words were, "Those aren't penguins?"  He's too used to see the cartoon version from the movie, I guess.

He loved looking at the fish tanks and pointing
out different fish.

The dog park I have been working on for months finally opened!  We had a big grand opening on July 24.  Shane brought Gray and Aspen out for alittle while.  Here are a couple of pictures of the park.
